Health officials: Two more COVID-19 cases in Kern, bringing total to 15

Kern County Public Health officials confirmed two more case of the COVID-19 Tuesday, bringing the local total to 15.

All but one of the 15 cases are located in the Bakersfield area. The other is in an area west of Bakersfield.

The first known case of COVID-19 was reported in Kern County on March 17 in a visitor to the county. That person is not counted among the 15 local cases. 

In a morning video briefing Tuesday, county health services spokeswoman Michelle Corson encouraged people to only seek testing if they have symptoms of the virus. 

She also said drive through testing is now available at the Ridgecrest Regional Hospital.
