Caltrans is reporting that the Westbound Highway 178 near canyon is shut down by large roadway crack.
Highway 178 has shut down traffic this Saturday afternoon at mile marker 21.
Caltrans District 6 is reporting the following:
Kern Canyon/Lake Isabella: State Route 178 EMERGENCY CLOSURE due to cracks in roadway near waterway at the mouth of the canyon. The closure of 178 is in addition to SR 155 closure due to previous winter weather impacts. Use an alternate route. Travel to the Lake Isabella area is not recommended at this time.
